I'm at my eye appointment right now! Here's a photo from overlooking lake superior in One of the lobbies! While waiting for one of my two appointments, I stopped an grabbed some orange juice and muffin at a cute little cafe near one of the skywalks! Have a great day!

Weekend Update

On Friday, my family and I attended a funeral for my Great Aunt. <3

While driving down to Little Falls, MN for the service, we crossed a river with fog right over it! It was so neat! Have a great Sunday!

Buzz Buzz Buzz!

My friend discovered this wasp nest in an apple tree in our front yard. Ugh! I'm terribly scared of bees! Even honeybees scare me a little! I've been stung three times before. The first time I was stung on the bottom of my foot by a bumblebee, the second time I was stung, I'd accidentally caught a hornet in my hand! (YOW!) But the third time I was stung was DEFINITELY the most painful! I was running around the yard for fun, and a wasp flew UP MY PANTS! It started stinging me numerous times behind my knee! It felt like a hot poker! I took some benadryl right away, and it kept the swelling down. I'm going to be sure not to get too close to the new nest!

The signs of Fall!

During the past week, I've noticed many different signs that Fall is fast approaching! Firstly, the chickens are molting now. They're all looking pretty rough! They've been acting very mellow, and they are super quiet. I was able to get the photo of Sandy below last night due to her mellowness! Secondly, I've seen many of the hawks and eagles heading over to Hawk Ridge. The eagle I got a photo of caught me by surprise! (Sorry for being so far away!!)

So, my blog posting has been slowing down lately, and I'm letting you all know that it will be slowing down even further. As summer is now in the past, Fall brings a much busier time for many around here. Look for my posts more on a weekly basis. Thanks for reading my blog!

Rest In Peace, Eve.

One of my last photos of Eve

The feathers she lost. There was quite a wide stretch of feathers along the driveway where she was taken.

It appears she escaped from her captor for just moments, but then she was struck again.

Tonight we lost Eve, the first chick we hatched from the eggs our first batch of chickens produced. She was adventurous, funny, and simply GORGEOUS! She was just like her mother, Jenna-a speckled sussex, and like her father, Racecar-a sicilian buttercup. She had such a unique patterning on her feathers, a pattern I've never seen or heard of before. She was a very special bird who will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, Eve.

She was killed by a Bobcat. <3
